Minecraft: Pi Edition v0.1.1 is a modified version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition Alpha v0.6.1 designed to run on the Raspberry Pi.[1] It is the most popular and second version of Minecraft Pi, and the first officialy released.[2][3]

Relation to Pocket Edition

Minecraft: Pi Edition is technically a fork (modification) of an old version of Minecraft: Pocket Edition (Alpha v0.6.1), ported to the Raspberry Pi. However, they are not exactly the same, since they have major differences, including disabled features.[4]

New features

The Pi Edition introduced two main features to the Pocket Edition: sneaking, two years before it was added to Pocket Edition in v0.12.1[5],and the scripting API.

Disabled features

See Minecraft: Pi Edition Unused Features.

Other differences

By default, the username is always "StevePi", and there is no way to change it without using mods. Additionally, the player can die by falling in the void in Creative Mode. Regarding the User Interface, Pi Edition uses the Xperia Play UI instead of the Touch one, and the static water texture.
